Moisture-proof coating on deliquescent crystal material
Apply moisture-proof coating on KBr (potassium bromide) with dip coating machine.
Assigned by technical support project of Tokyo Metropolitan Government, we have been developing technologies of processing the wet coat that can apply paint-like functional compound in film state.
Recently, we have succeded in improving weather resistance drastically by applying moisture-proof coating on deliquescent crysta material with dip coating machine.
KBr(potassium bromide) crystal is an ideal optical window material for its stable optical property from visible range to middle- and far-infrared range.
However, it is also known as deliquescent material which should be handled with care because it has high solubility in water such as approximately 65g of KBr crystal dissolve in 100g of water and special storage is necessary in order to prevent cloudy surface and haze.
In this technical development project, we became able to make a prospect of the practical use of controlling film thickness uniformity which was an unique problem of wet process.
We succeeded in adding enough weather resistance while maintaining high transmittance such as from near-ultraviolet range (300nm) up to middle- and far-infrared range (beyond 20μm) by applying moisture-proof coating with dip coating machine.
To enhance customer satisfaction, we will continue to strive, and hope to receive your long and continued patronage in the future.
